I was really hoping to take Star Trek into the d20 world instead I just gave the book away. Essentially useless. Prime Directive d20 has been sitting in my own personal collection for almost a decade, unused, unloved.
The book begins with a rundown of other d20 material that might be worth porting to PDd20, which is helpful for people unaware of them, and also advertises forthcoming supplements, only two of which ever materialized. Not exactly a brilliant move. My favorite part is that it draws material from the now disavowed Star Fleet Technical Manual by Franz Joseph, which is something I love despite its inaccuracies.
This is actually fine, since this alternate universe is full of conflict and adventure, and canon is always going to be strayed from in an RPG, whether because the players change something, or the referee adds or subtracts something from the setting.
Chapter Two is where things start to get ugly because rules are being brought into focus. This section is all about the races species, really of the SFU. Their automatic racial language is English, which has some rather unfortunate implications.
They also get Federation Standard as a bonus language, whatever the hell that means PDd20 never does explain what it is.
